I was reminded of a quote I believe the first time I heard it was when I was in Marine Corps Boot Camp u in the early 60, Long time ago - it was later on in out training - and we - the recruits had to make a decision - we hesitated the DI yelled, "Listen you maggots, do something even if it is wrong".
I think of that often sometimes at the top of a rapid on the Colorado River - and I am unsure of the entry - and I say to myself - Do something ------------------
It happens in photography
I think of another quote - this one I believe from Woddy Allen - he suggested - "If you are always successful - you are not trying enough"
I don't know ecactly why I am including these photos with these ideas
but I did want to try to make B+W's of some of the pics from the Sculptor Stand series

Natalia was working next to me on her computer. It was afternoon, hot in the studio. I suggested iced coffee, she suggested, "Let's shoot" OK!
Last November we were on a shoot in Malibu, we found a great art supply store, where they had a sculptor stand on sale, I bought it for the studio.
"Lets shoot!" " OK " "Lets use the sculptor stand." We did. I expected I believe it would be difficult for Natalia. I should not have been surprised to see her move with confidence, grace and beauty. Fluid. Fluid I observed. Natalia - our collaborations continue.

As I listen to public radio interview the people whose homes were flooded and destroyed in the Iowa floods I am struck by the fact that as they express their losses that often the first or second item mentioned is,"the pictures" "our photos".
The pictures. The loss of the picture. Our personal pictures. As a photographer I am curious about this. I have been making photographs for over 40 years what would I rescue from my devistation threatened home or studio.
What would you rescue ?

Kim - a really wonderful model - I had the pleasure of working with her 6 and 7 years ago - I was still using film Black and white and making prints in my darkroom.
Kim and I became friends - close friends - she moved away to go to art school - we are planning a re-union some time this summer.
